The purpose of a urology consultation is to eliminate urogenital system disorders which could have an impact on impairment of fertility. The normal functioning of organs of the urogenital system is of key significance to a man’s fertility.

During the consultation, the doctor takes detailed medical history of the patient concerning their ailments, chronic diseases, medications taken, surgeries and injuries. There will also be questions concerning lifestyle, eating habits and diseases occurring in the family. The further part of consultation involves physical examination which consists of a general examination, an assessment of genitals and a transrectal prostate examination.

At the end of the consultation, the doctor may order additional tests, such as a semen culture test, blood tests or imaging examinations which will help to make an accurate diagnosis and select a treatment.
